It can be frustrating when your DoorDash order is late–it’s even worse if it winds up in two other states. That’s what happened to this South Carolina-based man who called out DoorDash after spotting his order in Tennessee on the app.
“DoorDash, I’m about to punch right in you,” TikTok creator Lomainei (@lomainei1) says.
Then, the background shifts from his kitchen to the DoorDash driver location map on the app. “Why the absolute [expletive] has my DoorDasher left my entire state with my order?” he asks, pointing at a red and white car icon, indicating where his driver is currently located on the map: Tennessee.
To make matters worse, the estimated arrival time reads 4:33-4:43. Needless to say, the content wouldn’t be receiving his food anytime soon. “That’s my Wingstop! You’re gonna pick up my food and leave the state? What the [expletive]?” he concludes, annoyed.
What did viewers say?
Lomainei’s video racked up over 655,000 views—many proposed their theories on what could’ve happened in the form of jokes.
“Not him getting food for the road,” the top comment with over 34k quipped.
“Imagine they were kidnapped,” another stated.
“He’s just taking the scenic route… He said he’ll be there,” a third joked.
A common phenomenon?
Across the internet, there are countless stories of customers catching their DoorDashers stealing their orders, and The Mary Sue has reported on a few of them. On Black Friday, one woman capitalized on an Apple deal by purchasing an $800 iPad for $275. Once the app alerted her of her delivery, she discovered it wasn’t there. When she pressed for answers, the driver gaslit her. Although the company refunded her, she had to reorder the iPad.
Moreover, another woman had a similar incident where her pizza never showed up. Because she recognized the doormat in the proof photo, she knocked on her neighbor’s door. Lo and behold, the neighbor caught the driver on their Ring Camera dropping off the $50 worth of Sbarro pizza at the doorstep, snapping a photo of it as ‘proof’ of delivery, and walked off with it.
Even drivers embarking on trips to places far away with customers’ food wasn’t anything new, as others had experienced.
“Somebody took my dairy queen to new mexico. I mean I’m in el paso texas so it wasnt THAT far a drive but like … bruh,” one commenter revealed.
“This happened to me. I ordered some Birria tacos and the guy took off for the mountains,” a second recalled.
DoorDash entered the chat
The food delivery company weighed in on the comments section.
“We have no clue what that threat means but we don’t want to find out — check your DMs,” they wrote.
However, the response didn’t suffice for Lomainei. Instead, he misinterpreted the message and blasted them in a follow-up video. “Oh, now you don’t want to find out, huh?” he remarked. “One of your drivers left a [expletive] state with my food and now you don’t want to find out?” Outraged, he added, “You better make this right, or you’re gonna find you the long way, too.”
What does DoorDash do with drivers who steal?
In 2023, a DoorDash driver went viral for being spotted on video taking the customer’s pizza. In response, the food delivery service issued a statement to KTVU regarding those who do this: “We take this report extremely seriously and are urgently investigating. Any Dasher found to have stolen food will face consequences, including deactivation.”
