A controversial new step in immigration policy has been introduced by President Donald Trump, who has suggested he is open to widening deportation efforts to include U.S. citizens convicted of what he calls “bad” crimes. These comments, which the president admitted might stir debate, were made with little concern for public backlash.
The president’s recent statements, found by Express, were made during a trip to a new detention center in Florida, boldly named “Alligator Alcatraz.” This facility highlights the administration’s hardline approach to immigration enforcement, showing a quick effort to keep campaign promises about stopping the flow of undocumented people into the United States. In the first 100 days of the current administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported a high number of arrests, with more than sixty-six thousand migrants detained and over sixty-five thousand deported.
The administration’s renewed focus goes beyond people who entered the country illegally, now including those born in the United States who have committed crimes. The president stated that these “bad criminals,” including long-time residents and native-born citizens, are the result of a “mistake” made by a previous “incompetent President.” He made it clear that he wants these individuals removed from the country, openly sharing his views on the matter.
Trump wants to remove citizenship for criminals
Brian Allen, host of The Allenanalysis, compared this plan to “fascism with a passport scanner.” The president’s words are not just about undocumented immigrants but could also threaten basic freedoms, possibly targeting any citizen who speaks out, including journalists, activists, and protesters.
Adding to the debate is the case of Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic candidate for mayor of New York City, whose U.S. citizenship has been questioned. A Republican representative from Tennessee, Andy Ogles, has accused Mamdani of hiding support for “terrorism” during his citizenship process.

BREAKING: Trump now openly calling for the deportation of U.S. citizens.
“We have a lot of bad people … many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here too.”
That’s not immigration policy.

When asked about these claims, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said she had not yet looked into the specific accusations but that any proven claims would need a full investigation. This situation shows how the administration’s immigration focus is growing, now affecting the citizenship status of political figures based on past alleged actions.
The talk of possibly revoking citizenship adds more tension to the already heated debate over who should be allowed to stay in the United States and under what rules. It is starting to feel like freedoms are only given if you support MAGA, but hopefully, that will never be the case.
