'That might just work' - Fans react as Nottingham Forest boss opts for youthful line-up against Wolves

Nottingham Forest play Premier League outfit Wolves at the City Ground in the second round of the Carabao Cup tonight (8pm).

Manager Chris Hughton has opted to make changes to his starting XI by introducing seven academy players.

While loan recruit James Garner makes his return debut after agreeing to spend the season at Forest after impressing last term, the Reds team is littered with other up-and-coming youngsters.

Hughton said in his programme notes ahead of the game: "Tonight is another good opportunity to give first team minutes to the younger players coming through the system. We all enjoyed the performance against Bradford in the previous round where the young lads really rose to the challenge against a committed Bradford side."

Forest fans have been reacting to the team news on social media...

@Ash_Redders90: "If we somehow draw or miraculously win this, Bruno Lage is confirmed as a raging fraud. We'll certainly find out how good Horvath is today - regardless of result though, it's a great night for the academy. 7 out of the 11 rising through the ranks and one making his debut."

@RusselSergeant: "Ah three defensive midfielders. Which one will he play as a 10! I always like to see seven defensive players at home. Literally playing not to score. One striker isolated against three centre-backs. Pure liquid football. Genius tactics."

@LoclyReddog: "Difference being Garner and Fornah like to go forward, Colback to sit deep.

@TutthillRichard: "One upfront? Do you know, that might just work. Good luck to the youngsters."

@WillTooley: "Don't think that team could be much worse. Should be keeping Garner safe for Saturday in my opinion."

@Andrew_Chester: "Young lads getting game time against a Premier side. What's the issue?"

@DamndSmc: "I don't mind this at all. But Wolves have bought Traore and Neves. If these get a kicking, what good will that do? Such a weak squad."

@Tyla06: "So good to see Garner back in the line up."

@Joshhales9: "I can't figure out what formation we are playing."

@Mattnffc: "Johnson on his way out in my opinion. Nice to see a change of shape - Fornah x Garner."

@Lukemoss: "This is going to be X rated man, I'm not looking forward to this."

@MichaelAndrew1: "Getting smashed tonight."

@CarnorJax87: "Garner, Fornah, Colback. CH really doesn't want to score goals. Why the hell is Colback playing?"
