Thanks to poor start, Broncos have No. 1 spot in NFL’s waiver wire order

If Broncos general manager John Elway wants defensive lineman Bryan Mone, he’ll have first dibs.

Mone (6-3, 345 pounds) was cut by the Seahawks on Friday and will now be subject to the NFL’s waiver wire. Waived players are awarded to the team highest in the waiver order that places a claim on them. If no teams place a claim, the player becomes a free agent.

Thanks to their 0-3 start, Denver now has the top order in the waiver wire.

The Broncos’ top spot on the waiver wire might not last beyond this weekend, especially if they beat the Jaguars on Sunday.

The waiver wire order will be subject to change on a week-to-week basis to reflect the NFL’s current standings.

Denver has been awarded four players off waivers this year: quarterback Brandon Allen, fullback Andrew Beck, offensive lineman Corey Levin and wide receiver/returner Diontae Spencer. All four of those players were acquired after 53-man roster cuts earlier this month.
