Thanks to Nottingham Forest and their fans for brilliant 40th anniversary celebration

Nottingham still has more European Cup wins to its name than London after Saturday's Champions League final.

It was anything but a classic between Liverpool and Tottenham, but the players who lifted the trophy with Forest in 1979 and 1980 know all about bad finals.

Our first one against Malmo wasn't good. It's not about epic finals.

It's about winning the game. Sometimes in these games you are so determined not to lose that it ends up being a scrappy game.

Last Thursday saw us celebrate the 40th anniversary of our win against Malmo.

It was good to see everyone from the 1979 team at the City Ground. It always is. A couple couldn't make it, but everyone time you see those old teammates it all seems to just click into place.

Forty years on and being able to celebrate it together is great.

We got on as if we'd just walked off the pitch in our heyday. It was great to see so many fans come out to support us on the day.

The club did us proud. They put on a good show. We can't thank them enough.

They've embraced the occasion. I've said before, we aren't living in the past, but a lot of clubs would love to have the history Forest do.
