I read your interesting article on the penny auction website MadBid.com last October. I was in the process of registering and buying credits when I decided to look at some reviews. Thank you for helping me stay away from it. I have withdrawn my registration. AR, by email
We have been getting a great many letters from readers who felt they wasted money on this website and are so glad to hear you did the smart thing and searched the internet – before you handed over your card details.
Our postbag suggests readers are being told they can’t have their unused credits refunded, and the company is telling complainers that the distance-selling rules don’t apply in its case. Our view remains: you’d be mad to hand over hard-earned money to MadBid.
We welcome letters but cannot answer individually. Email us at consumer.champions@theguardian.com or write to Consumer Champions, Money, the Guardian, 90 York Way, London N1 9GU. Please include a daytime phone number
