The One Siam The Great & Glorious Chinese New Year 2019 will bring amazing performances and activities to Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery from tomorrow until Feb 5.
The opening ceremony takes place tomorrow at 5.30pm at Parc Paragon at Siam Paragon and features popular stars Sakollawat "Weir" Kanarot and Ranee "Bella" Campen donning ancient Chinese costumes and giving a performance of Red Thread Of Fate, based on Chinese folklore.
This will be followed by an acrobatic show by Jining Acrobatic Troupe from Shandong, China, which won the gold medal at the 6th National Golden Lion Competition, the largest competition of its kind in China. The troupe has performed on many international stages, with an idiosyncratic style inspired by both local Shandong culture and international standard performance. Other highlights will include an auspicious lion dance featuring up to 63 lions in 10 lucky colours representing the five elements, and a performance by the award-winning, 50m-long LED-lit dragon featuring more than 300 performers.
At the Atrium, Siam Center, there will be modern Chinese-style 3D fashion sets specially designed for this event by leading Thai designers from Painkiller and Wonder Anatomie. Visitors are invited to dress in contemporary Chinese-style costumes -- a mix of Western and traditional Chinese shirts, for a fun photo shoot.
At the Discovery Plaza, Siam Discovery, an exhibition of nine lucky pig sculptures in different postures will be held to bless visitors with happiness, love, fortune, fulfilment, good luck, prosperity, longevity, success and wealth. The handmade papier-mâché sculptures range from 1.5-2.2m in height.
