'Thank you, you restore our faith in humankind' - Heartfelt message to rescuers who saved injured walker

A team of rescuers who saved an injured person in a remote part of Wigan have received a heartfelt message of thanks.

Members of Bolton's Mountain Rescue Team were joined by paramedics after they received reports of a casualty stuck in a muddy woodland area in Shevington.

They were called at 9.30am on Friday, December 11, and were told the patient had suffered an upper leg injury.

Together 14 members of the team were able to access the area and carried the injured person 800 metres through the mud to a waiting ambulance.

In a post on Facebook, a member of the Mountain Rescue Team recalled a heartfelt message of thanks they had received after the incident.

It said: "Thank you to Bolton Mountain Rescue and the paramedics who attended a member of our family who had taken a fall.

"To the farmer who used his quad bike to help access, for the survival blanket, hot water bottle and a warm drink, to the passerby who supported our family member for so long , in the cold and mud, waiting for help to arrive, also to the lady who took care of our dog and returned him washed and safe.

"Thank you, you restore our faith in humankind. Please share, I don’t know all these people, but will try to thank them individually."

Bolton Mountain Rescue Team works to help people trapped in remote areas around Bolton, Wigan and the surrounding area when other emergency services cannot reach them.
