A POPULAR singer has become a record-breaking artist following sales for his Glasgow show.

Dermot Kennedy, best known for tracks Outnumbered and Giants, has broken the record for tickets sold for a single show at the OVO Hydro.

The news came ahead of the 31-year-old's sold-out show at the popular Glasgow venue on Friday.

Taking to Twitter to reveal the news, the Hydro wrote: "Dermot Kennedy has officially broken the record for tickets sold for a single show at the OVO Hydro which is just about to kick off and we cannot wait!

"Sending a huge OVO Hydro congratulations to you Dermot."

With over 14,000 tickets sold, Kennedy, from Ireland, shared his excitement, saying: "What a way to start the UK leg of this tour!!

"Things like this are not lost on me. Thank you, thank you, thank you, let's make tonight special."

The show comes as part of Kennedy's Sonder tour.
