'Thank you Sarri!' - Some Chelsea fans offer surprising response as club post Jorginho message

Jorginho is celebrating his first year anniversary as a Chelsea player today (Sunday).

The 27-year-old Italian international signed for the Blues on this day in 2018, with the former Napoli midfielder linking up once again with Maurizio Sarri, after he had taken the job in west London.

The Brazil-born midfielder has not exactly been a firm fans' favourite since then during his time at Chelsea , with the 27-year-old coming in for some criticism from supporters at times as the Blues endured difficult spells in the 2018-19 season.

But it would seem that Jorginho is winning over some fans with his performances, judging by the response to a post by the club from the official Chelsea account on social networking website Twitter.

Earlier today (Sunday), Chelsea posted a message to mark the first year anniversary of his arrival in west London, with a picture of Jorginho on the day he signed, accompanied by the words: "We signed Jorginho one year ago today!"

And the majority of responses to the club's tweet have been positive, with some supporters describing the midfielder as "underrated" and "misunderstood", while one has even thanked the former Chelsea boss for signing him.

Here's what some Chelsea fans have been saying on social media.

However, Jorginho faces an increased battle for his place in the Chelsea midfield this season under new head coach Frank Lampard, with the likes of Mason Mount and Tiemoue Bakayoko returning to the Blues after spells out on loan last season.

In addition, midfielder has impressed so far in pre-season, with the young Scot earning praise from Lampard after his performance in the win against St Patrick's Athletic in the Blues' latest pre-season friendly in Dublin yesterday (Saturday).
