'Thank you from the bottom of my heart': Mum praises Asda worker's act of kindness to her young son

The mother of an autistic boy has thanked an Asda worker for caring for her son during a shopping trip.

Matt, a staff member at the Golborne branch in Wigan, was praised on social media for treating an autistic four-year-old with “the best respect”.

A mum wrote to the company to thank the home shopping employee for letting her son high five him in the store.

She explained the youngster usually struggles to enter supermarkets due to sensory overloads.

But Matt and his “friendly attitude” helped make the Asda trip “a better experience”.

In a letter, the mum said: "Matt let my son high five him multiple times (we had cleaned our hands beforehand).

“He even told some of the other staff that my son likes high fives and they gave him some too. It doesn't sound like much, but it really did make my son's experience a better one.

“We'd tried to go into another shop before Asda but he just couldn't do it because of the sensory overload, but having Matt and his friendly attitude made Asda a better experience.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Customer section manager Michelle added: "Matt's a true gentleman with a heart of gold.

“He made this child's day and his mum's shopping experience 100 per cent better. Thank you."
