'Thank you for infecting me' - Leeds United defender sends emotional farewell message

Infected with Leeds United passion, under-23 stalwart Hugo Diaz has waved an emotional goodbye to Elland Road this afternoon.

The 22-year-old was one of a number of Spanish players recruited by Victor Orta in September 2017 to swell the ranks of the development side.

After two seasons at Thorp Arch, Diaz had established himself as a key part of Carlos Corberan’s reserves and captained the team on several occasions last term, during which the Premier League Professional Development League title was clinched.

Ultimately, Diaz, whose contract length was not disclosed when he signed, made one senior appearance for the Whites, emerging as a 57th-minute substitute at Preston North End in April 2018.

In a message to his followers on social network Twitter, Diaz expressed how happy he had been in West Yorkshire and how he would always follow United in the future.

It remains unclear where Diaz will sign next. He was with Deportive La Coruna before moving to England.
