THANE: A 27-year-old West Africa national has been arrested by the Thane crime branch who seized 60 grams of cocaine worth Rs 24 lakh from his possession. The accused has been identified as Koffi Charles, a native of Ivory Coast.
The police said that they received a tip-off that a person of African origin with specific description shall be coming to sell the drugs near Dnyaneshwar nagar in Wagle estate, hence a team led by senior inspector Vikas Ghodke laid a trap and nabbed him on Wednesday.
Apart from the contraband, the police seized his mobile phone. Preliminary investigations revealed that he might have procured cocaine from different sources and later sold it in Thane and Mumbai. Nishikant Karlikar
