Thane: Two die after truck carrying sulphur powder meets with accident in Ambernath

KALYAN: Two persons died on Wednesday when a truck carrying sulphur powder collided with a car and an auto rickshaw in Ambernath township of Maharashtra's Thane district.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon near Anand Nagar MIDC in Ambernath on the Badlapur-Dombivli pipeline road.

The victims -- a man and his wife -- were travelling in the auto, which caught fire after the collision.

While passengers from the car and the truck managed to escape the blaze unhurt, the couple could not escape and died due to the fire.

Learning about the incident, fire department officials from Ambernath rushed to the spot and successfully controlled the fire from spreading further.
