Thane: Three injured after chemical leaks from tanker in Ulhasnagar

ULHASNAGAR: Three people suffered burn injuries after a tanker laden with sulfuric acid chemical spilled on them on the road due to a leakage in Ulhasnagar city of Maharashtra's Thane district on Tuesday afternoon.

Out of the three, two persons got discharged from the hospital while one is still undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ulhasnagar.

Two of the injured have been identified as Bharat Vashita and Dilip Puraswani.

Following the incident, the Vithalwadi Police has detained the tanker driver Rakesh Rana and further probe is on. The police said that the incident took place at Shri Ram chowk in Ulhasnagar on Tuesday at 3.15pm when the tanker carrying sulfuric acid was going from Ulhasnagar towards Taloja MIDC.

The police who later reached the spot took the truck to the police station and have detained the driver to take further legal action.

The police said they are also checking whether the chemical was transported legally or illegally.
