Thane: Power co officials go out of their way to help ailing monk

MUMBAI: Officials from Adani Electricity went out of their way recently to help an ailing Jain Muni who lives in a Bhayander temple, and faced a peculiar problem owing to power fluctuation. The fuse man (electrician) who usually attends to such complaints was 20 kilometres away to resolve another issue. But Adani officials knew this was a serious matter and immediately dispatched a maintenance team to the Jain temple.

"The Jain Muni undergoes dialysis every alternative day. But the moment the machine is switched on, power in the entire complex would go out. They could not use even a small electrical appliance, so a dialysis machine was out of the question," said zonal network manager of Mira-Bhayander division Rajan Korgaonkar. On inspection, the staff found that the problem was not due to Adani Electricity's supply point but some fault in the electrical wiring due to which the fuse kept getting burned.

"They got another licensed electrician and rectified the problem. The team waited patiently till evening until the matter was resolved," another senior official recalled.
