KALYAN: The twin cities of Kalyan-Dombivli in Maharashtra's Thane district reported over 1,000 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Thursday.
As many as 1,172 persons tested positive in the past 24 hours taking the tally to 1,47,521 so far. However, the good news is that no new death was reported in the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) limits.
The active case count has now reached 3,068. Considering the rising cases, the KDMC has made all arrangements to tackle the upsurge in the twin cities. On Thursday, KDMC commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi held a meeting of the special task force with doctors and paediatricians of the city. The task force briefed the doctors about the treatment protocol and also informed them that Covid-19 was rapidly spreading among children and pregnant women.
Dr Suryawanshi also appealed to citizens to not be scared that the KDMC will hospitalise anyone who tests positive. Dr Suryawanshi said, "If a patient does not have the required facilities for home quarantine or if doctors recommend hospitalisation, only then will the civic body admit the patient at the designated Covid care centres. Otherwise, patients can take the treatment at home."
He also alerted citizens that the virus is spreading among children and pregnant women and if they have any symptoms related to Covid, then they should get tested without any delay.
