Thane: Dombivli-based developer facing many criminal cases arrested over controversial videos

KALYAN: A Dombivli-based developer having several criminal cases registered against him was on Tuesday arrested by the police after two controversial videos went viral on social media.

While one video shows Suresh Patil sitting on a police officer's chair, the other features him waving a gun with his friends.

Patil was arrested by the Manpada Police in Dombivli in the Thane district of Maharashtra.

On Tuesday, he was produced before the sessions court in Kalyan, which remanded him to police custody till May 4.

The police have learned that in his childhood, Patil who had played the role of Luv in Ramayan TV serial has a strong following on his social media page.

Patil — who was on bail in the past in seven criminal cases registered against him — is also a complainant in a case of human sacrifice and superstition registered at the same police station.

The police probing the superstition case had seized Rs 19.96 lakh and Patil last month on October 20 had visited the police station to collect money after a court order.

During that time a police officer had gone outside his cabin for some time when Patil sat on the chair and a video of him while having fun was recorded.

Patil later used the same video on his Instagram page by adding a song.

In addition to the same, Patil also posted another video in which he was seen waving a gun with his friends.

Police sources said that after the video went viral, some people on social media objected to it, because the Maharashtra police logo was visible behind his chair.

Looking at the controversy, the local Manpada Police registered an offence and arrested Patil from his residence and seized his licensed revolver and Mercedes car from which they have got one sharp weapon.
