Thane: 50-year-old woman booked for duping youths on pretext of providing govt job

KALYAN: The Shivaji Nagar police in Thane's Ambernath booked a 50-year-old woman for allegedly duping multiple youths across Maharashtra to the tune of Rs 59 lakh on the pretext of providing government job in railway department.

The accused has been identified as Sushila Devsare, a resident of Ambernath.

Based on a complaint lodge by Jagdish Chaudhari (31) from Jalgaon, a case was registered against Devsare, who claimed to have good contacts with senior railway officials.

According to police, around 13 such complainants from across the state have come forward so far. Between August 2018 to 10 January 2022, Devsare took Rs 59 lakh from the victims and did not provided them any job.

Madhukar Bhoge, senior police inspector of Shivaji Nagar police station said, "The accused promised the victims job in railway dept as ticket checker and helper."

Furher investigation into the matter is under way.
