Thailand will host the 13th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion from Nov 5-7, the first time this international conference will be held outside Europe where this field of work is highly developed.
The conference venue will be Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Bang Na district.
Atchariya Pangma, secretary-general of National Institute for Emergency Medicine, said this is the first time the conference will be organised in a country where the statistics of road accidents were among the highest in the world.
As host, Thailand should benefit from the conference as it will learn from the international network on injury prevention and safety promotion.
The meeting will also raise public awareness about the importance of this field of work and encourage policy makers to come up plans to better curb injuries and promote public safety, he said.
The theme of this year's conference is advanced injury and violence prevention.
