The Thailand Research Expo 2026 kicks off today, bringing over 1,000 research works to showcase at Bangkok Convention Centre on the 22nd floor of Centara Grand Hotel at CentralWorld, daily from 8.30am to 5pm until Friday.
Held under the theme "Research Synergy: Driving A Sustainable Thai Economy And Society" by the National Research Council of Thailand, the annual expo showcases research and innovation works from 231 organisations, spanning future technology and innovation, the BCG economy, the environment, health, education, Thailand's soft power and community and quality of life development.
The event aims to connect researchers with users across all sectors, including business, investors and the general public, to translate research and innovation into concrete, real-world outcomes.
Highlighted exhibits include Pathfinder UGV from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, a remote-controlled robot designed to detect landmines; a drone detection radar system from King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok; and an anti-bedsore and anti-allergy hospital bed from Navamindradhiraj University.
Also featured are the Herbal Kratom Formula for Alcohol Rehabilitation from the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine; and Thai Silk Synthesis from Buriram Rajabhat University, which integrates design, science and technology to elevate mudmee silk to an international standard.
Other interesting creations include a semi-automatic mackerel gutting and cleaning machine, alternative protein products, a flood-risk sensing and public communication system, a water quality analyser and flour-free egg-white fettuccine developed using a gelation technique.
More than 150 academic forums and conferences have been arranged, covering future technology, climate change adaptation, artificial intelligence, modern medicine, creative economy development and future skills, opening new perspectives for young people on education and career opportunities in today's world.
The expo also dedicates a stage for students and young researchers from higher education institutions nationwide, featuring pitching sessions, mini-stage presentations and special exhibitions. The format gives the next generation the opportunity to showcase their potential, share creative ideas, and exchange experiences with researchers, experts and entrepreneurs across a wide range of fields.
