Thailand has been ranked in eighth position in the "Best Countries In The World" poll for five consecutive years by readers of London-based Conde Nast Traveller magazine.
The magazine conducted its online survey in February this year for its Readers' Travel Award 2017.
Italy has been voted as the Best Country In The World since 2010. Ranked second in the list is Greece, followed by the United States, France, Spain, South Africa, Australia, Thailand, India and Canada.
In the category of 10 Best Islands, Koh Samui is ranked fifth.
Ranked first in the list are the Greek Islands, followed by Spain's Balearic Islands, Sicily and The Maldives. The sixth-best island is Bali, followed by the Seychelles, Malta, Sardinia of Italy and St Lucia, an island state in the Caribbean.
The magazine also introduced the ultimate Travel Top 100 list in which it combined winners of all categories, including countries, islands, hotels and airlines to find the best of the best.
"We calculated the average mark according to various criteria such as service, design, culture and value for money and used this to rank your favourite travel experiences. The scores are percentages representing overall average levels of satisfaction," according to the magazine.
The Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok was voted first, with a satisfaction score at 93.68%. The Sarojin Hotel in Khao Lak was ranked 18th (90.37%) and Koh Samui was in 19th place (90.36%).
