The government confirmed on Saturday that no Ebola cases had entered Thailand, dismissing as false widely shared reports that the virus had reached the country.

Deputy government spokeswoman Ploytalay Laksamisaengchan said the claim was identified as the most widely shared piece of misinformation in the latest review by the Anti-Fake News Center Thailand.

The case reportedly involved a woman who arrived in Thailand on Thursday from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where an Ebola outbreak is ongoing.

Upon arrival, she was transferred by the Department of Disease Control to the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute in accordance with standard disease-control protocols.

After an interview and health assessment, authorities found that the traveller had no history of exposure to the disease and had already booked a flight to return to her home country, Ms Ploytalay said.

Surveillance data showed that among 53 travellers entering Thailand from affected areas between May 21 and 25, 2026, no individuals met the criteria for investigation as suspected Ebola cases, she said.
