Thaifex opens with focus on innovation

Mr Anutin says Thailand is building the future food hub of the world, where food innovation, sustainability, health and reliability come together.

Thaifex-Anuga Asia 2026 launched on Wednesday as Thailand shifts its tagline from "Kitchen of the World" to the "Future Food Hub of the World".

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said food is no longer just a commodity, but also a matter of global strategic importance, stability and security.

Last year, Thailand's food exports exceeded 1.26 trillion baht, reinforcing the country's position as a key contributor to the global food supply chain.

"Thailand is building the future food hub of the world, where food innovation, sustainability, health and reliability come together. Thailand remains a trusted source of safe, high-quality products for the global market," Mr Anutin said.

The strength of Thailand's food sector lies in its rich agricultural resources, strong food manufacturing system that utilises international standards, and ability to create value through innovation, he noted.

The government is promoting smart agriculture, biotechnology, functional foods, alternative proteins, sustainable production, clean energy adoption and digital transformation across the entire food value chain, which it expects will ensure the sector's long-term growth.

Thaifex-Anuga Asia 2026 features nearly 3,600 exhibitors across more than 6,700 booths from 56 countries and regions.

The fair is expected to attract more than 90,000 visitors from 130 countries, with projected trade orders exceeding 130 billion baht.

The additional exhibition space accommodates a wider range of products and innovations across nine sectors: drinks, fine food, food technology, frozen food, fruit and vegetables, meat, rice, seafood, and sweets and confectionery.

A highlight of this year's event is Hall 4, dedicated to emerging products, breakthrough ideas and the next generation of food innovation.

The fair is at Impact Muang Thong Thani, and is open to trade visitors from May 26-29, and to the public on May 30.
