CHON BURI: A Chinese tourist was full of praise for Pattaya City officials and a Thai woman after a wallet containing money and credit cards he accidentally dropped on a road in Pattaya were returned to him on Saturday night.

The woman, identified as Orawan Boonmak, who happened to see the wallet on the road, picked it up and gave it to Pattaya City officials manning a special operation centre at the Balihai boat pier.

The wallet contained 24,172 Thai baht, 2,300 Chinese yuan, 14,000 Japanese yen, 100 US dollars and 13 credit cards. An identity card belonging to Li Haoran, 27, a Chinese tourist, was also found in the wallet.

The Pattaya City officials forwarded the wallet with the money and credit cards to Pattaya police. The recovered items were later returned to Mr Li, who showed up at the police station to collect them at about 10pm.

The Chinese tourist was full of praise for the Thai authorities and the woman who recovered his lost property.
