Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) is penetrating the premium customer market with the launch of a new airport transfer service.
THAI signed a memorandum of understanding with Black Tie Service Co, a one-stop lifestyle service for companies.
Under the agreement, passengers on all airlines can ride to airports in a range of limousines or vans from Black Tie Service.
Pariya Chulkaratana, vice-president of e-commerce and ancillary marketing for THAI, said the airport transfer service will help generate more income for the airline starting from next year.
Mrs Pariya said THAI hopes to improve its customer satisfaction through this exclusive service along with other offerings such as hotel bookings and travel insurance, which customers can buy from the THAI website or mobile application.
Kanokporn Na Ranong, chief executive of Black Tie Service, said the company has a fleet of 20 cars -- 10 owned by the company and 10 by an allied firm.
"Our company makes 100 transfers per day and this could jump to 300-400 during high season," Ms Kanokporn said.
"The service costs 1,500 baht per trip and minimum projected revenue is 150,000 baht per day."
She said the airport transfer market has been growing because of high demand from VIP travellers.
Black Tie serves about 20 large companies, mostly banking and financial institutions.
"With our new service, guests can select an additional option for privileged access to VIP fast track and VIP lounges at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports," said Ms Kanokporn.
To ensure safety, Black Tie Service requires its drivers have criminal background checks and all its cars are covered by first-class insurance.
