Thai Airways International says it has resumed normal flights between Bangkok and Sapporo in Hokkaido after the reopening of New Chitose Airport.

Flt Lt Pratana Patanasiri, vice-president for aviation security and standards, said the earthquake hit Hokkaido on Thursday had forced a temporary closure of New Chitose airport.

After a security check, Japanese authorities reopened the airport on Saturday, allowing THAI to resume the service.

THAI operates weekly roundtrip flights between the two cities. TG670 departs from Suvarnabhumi airport at 11.45pm and arrives at New Chitose airport at 8.30am the following day. The return flight TG671 departs from New Chitose airport at 10.30am and arrives at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 3.30pm.

For information on the flight schedules, passengers may check thaiairways.com website or contact THAI contact centre at 02-356-1111 around the clock
