Premium mid-size SUV comes with aggressive prices, an array of driver-assist tech and hybrid and diesel options.

Volvo Car Thailand has launched the all-new XC60 with class-beating prices for both the hybrid and diesel models.
Rivalling the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC, the XC60 D4 is available with 190hp 2.0-litre diesel-turbo costing 3.09 million in Momentum spec. All of Volvo’s diesel-powered competitors have higher prices.
The T8 plug-in hybrid comes to the XC60 for the first time after appearing in the XC90 and S90, two other Volvos using the same platform and 407hp 2.0-litre petrol engine featuring turbocharging, supercharging and electrification technologies.
The T8 in XC60 application goes from 0-100kph in 5.3sec and produces 50g/km of CO2. Like the D4, eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive are standard in the T8. Likewise, a host of driver-assist tech are available to stand out in its class.
There are two specs for the XC60 T8: sporty R-Design priced at 3.59 million and classy Momentum costing 300k less.
While the XC60’s three German opponents have yet to go plug-in hybrid, there’s a nearby rival for the T8. The Lexus NX300h gets 197hp 2.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid albeit with far less performance and no plug-in facility. The NX300h, which was just launched in facelifted form, is priced from 2.93-4.05 million baht spread over four grades.
Next week, BMW will be introducing the latest generation of the X3 in Thailand. The outgoing model powered by 190hp 2.0-litre diesel-turbo went for 3.699 million baht in Highline trim.
