Thai physics students shine at Olympiad in Korea

Thailand’s high school physics Olympiad team has won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the Asian Physics Olympiad 2026 in Busan, South Korea, along with four honourable mentions.

The eight-member delegation was welcomed at Suvarnabhumi airport on Monday, where Assoc Prof Teeradej Chiensuksakul, director of the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology, led a ceremony to congratulate the students on their achievement.

Gold medallist Sirawit Musikasophon of Kamnoetvidya Science Academy led the team’s success, followed by Pattaraphon Thanapitak of Triam Udom Suksa School with silver.

Bronze medals were secured by students from Suankularb Wittayalai School and Suankularb Wittayalai Rangsit School.

Other team members from Montfort College, Triam Udom and Mahidol Wittayanusorn School received honourable mentions. Thailand also received the host flag for the 2027 event that will be held in Nakhon Ratchasima.
