Thai Airways International (THAI) has enhanced its Royal Orchid Plus (ROP) frequent flyer programme with new redemption options aimed at giving members greater flexibility and value when using their miles.
At a press conference titled "ROP: The New Chapter Begins", THAI unveiled new benefits, technologies and promotional offers under the programme. The launch was led by THAI chief executive Chai Eamsiri and chief commercial officer Kittiphong Sansomboon, together with the airline's business partners.
Mr Chai said the upgrade marks another milestone in THAI's efforts to improve the customer experience by offering benefits that better meet members' needs while enhancing technology and services to strengthen long-term engagement and trust.
Mr Kittiphong said the 33-year-old Royal Orchid Plus programme continues to evolve, with the latest enhancements focused on providing members with greater flexibility and value through two new options: ROP Smart Miles Pay and ROP Smart Miles Pay Lite.
ROP Smart Miles Pay allows members to purchase THAI tickets using a combination of cash and miles or redeem miles for the full fare, excluding taxes and fees, with instant seat confirmation. Members can choose how many miles to use via www.thaiairways.com and will continue to earn miles based on their booking class.
From July 13, THAI will introduce ROP Smart Miles Pay Lite, allowing members to use accrued miles instead of cash for THAI flights departing Bangkok. The option requires double the miles specified under the standard award redemption chart and is available for Business Class and Economy Class, subject to terms and conditions.
Passengers using Smart Miles Pay Lite will receive instant seat confirmation and continue earning miles from their journeys.
