Thai researchers and inventors have scooped a number of awards from international technology shows in Taiwan and Poland.
This recognition came at both the 13th Taipei International Invention Show & Technomart (INST 2017) in Taiwan, and the 11th International Warsaw Invention Show (IWIS 2017) in Poland.
The Thai contingents were supported by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT).
At Taipei International Invention Show & Technomart, Biotech Institute's low-cost, high-efficiency portable electronic alternative to DNA-based foodborne pathogen detection, won a platinum award, the highest honour, from the judges.
At the event, 1,000 works were submitted from 19 countries, with the NRCT submitting 46 inventions from 19 entities across Thailand.
Thailand also received nine gold medals with distinction, 11 silver medals, 13 bronze medals, and 16 special prizes presented by participating countries.
At the International Warsaw Invention Show, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand's tool for repairing high-voltage power lines without having to shut them down first won a platinum award.
Inventors and researchers from Thailand also received three gold medals with distinction, four gold medals, eight silver medals, three bronze medals, and 16 special prizes given by participating countries.
In total, 19 inventions from seven entities in Thailand were submitted.
All the winning inventions will be exhibited at the Inventor Day Exhibition, from Feb 2-5, 2018, at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (Bitec), Bangna.
