More than 500 research works by Thai researchers will take centre stage during the "Thailand Research Expo 2019", which will take place at the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld on April 7-10 from 9am to 6pm.

Held under the theme "Research For National Development: Move Towards Stability, Prosperity And Sustainability" by the National Research Council of Thailand in collaboration with leading research organisations, the four-day expo is a platform for local researchers to show their creativity and for interested members of the public to shop for their innovative creations.

On exhibit will be research works and innovations under five major themes covering economic wealth building; solutions to social challenges; modern agriculture development; national security; and the promotion of enterprise start-up, community enterprise and SMEs.

Introduced at the expo will be Ban Puek woven fabric from "Le Costume Banpuek By Mupa" brand which was originated from a research project by Sanchai Uae-sin, dean of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Burapha University.

The fabric is woven with a unique technique delivered by Queen Savang Vadhana or the Queen Grandmother and has two distinctive patterns -- El fillets and Quail. A collection of the ready-to-wear and accessories made from Ban Puek fabric will be presented on the catwalk in a full-scale fashion show on April 7 at 3pm.

Other research works that have become interesting products include all-in-one facial serum made from monkey jack or mahad extract by Asawachai Chuayprom from the Herbal Research Institute under the Department of Medical Sciences and "Beyond Gauze", an antibacterial and super absorbent gauze from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi.

Many outstanding works ready to shine at the expo include innovative food recipes from Suan Sunandha Palace by Rajabhat Suan Sunandha University, ceramic jewellery by Srinakharinwirot University, processed food products from organic germinated brown rice by Mahasarakham University, and rice husk packaging by Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon.

There will also be seminars and conferences on more than 100 topics; innovation contests for students; a presentation of research awards; a research clinic; and sales of local wisdom products, products from the Royal Projects and research works.
