Until Sunday, Michelin-starred J'Aime restaurant at U Sathorn Bangkok will present a special series of exquisite lunches and dinners prepared by visiting French founder chef Jean Michel Lorain.
Jean Michel is a third-generation member of the Lorain family, whose six-decade-old La Côte Saint Jacques restaurant in Burgundy was awarded three Michelin stars between 1986 and 2014, and two stars from 2015 until the present. He was, at age 27, the youngest chef to have three Michelin stars. In 1993, he was named Chef of the Year by Gault Millau.
Serving modern French cuisine, J'Aime, opened in 2014, is Lorain's first venture in Bangkok. It has boasted a Michelin star since 2017 with cuisine combining blissful characteristics of French and Thai cultures without interfering with culinary quality.
The specially featured menu (five-course for lunch and seven for dinner) celebrates the beauty and abundance of Thai produce, which will be prepared according to time-honoured French-cooking techniques.
Highlighted dishes include black king fish, baby leek, sweet pepper and wild almond sauce; giant freshwater prawn, banana flowers barigoule-style, heart of palm and shiso seeds; pan-seared ostrich fillet, butternut squash purée, garlic confit and lapsang souchong tea infusion; and glazed farmed pork, buckwheat, carrot, citrus and timut pepper sauce.
The five-course lunch is priced at 2,999 baht net per person, while the seven-course dinner costs 4,599 baht net per person. Prices are inclusive of tea and coffee.
