Thai growth prospects receive major upgrade

"If oil imports can be managed more effectively in the coming period and global crude oil prices decline, Thailand's trade balance should improve," says Danucha Pichayanan, secretary-general of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC).

The government planning agency expects Thailand's economic growth to hit 2.0-2.5% this year, an upward revision from its previous estimate of 1.5% to 2.5%.
