THAI flight from Perth postponed

Thai Airways International flight TG484, scheduled to arrive in Bangkok on Saturday afternoon from Perth, Australia has been postponed after an airbridge struck the plane, damaging the left engine cowling.

The national carrier said that after all 235 passengers and 13 cabin crew including pilots had boarded the plane and the doors had been closed, airport staff started to move the airbridge away but it struck the plane.

An examination revealed damage to an area about 60cm long on the engine cowling, causing the airline to suspend the flight. THAI checked some passengers into a hotel to wait for the next flight and transferred some to other airlines.

Thai Airways operates a daily flight from Perth to Bangkok, leaving at 9.20am and arriving at 3.20pm at Suvarnabhumi airport.
