To welcome the season of gift-giving is the annual "Identity Of Siam And Crafts Bangkok", which runs until Sunday at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (Bitec) Bangna.

Recently, the Sustainable Arts and Crafts Institute of Thailand (SACICT) hosted a press conference to launch the "12th Identity Of Siam And Crafts Bangkok 2021" at CentralWorld. A group of celebrities such as Natprapa Choonhavan, Jarospan Svasti Na Ayudhya, Nitcha Boonyakorn, Phakyada Chutidanaikul, Punnyaaphat Thanhomkul and Matira Tantiprasut attended to celebrate local wisdom and top-class Thai craftsmanship.

For those looking for ideas for special gifts, the conference showcased highlights including Pa Sinh Stacking Rings and Pa Sinh Stacking Ring Kram Sakol from Porana, bracelets and pins made with Mokume Kane technique used to make Japanese swords mixed with Thai skills from Ponk Smith, and Save Earth Handmade bags inspired by weaving patterns from Maka Design.

"The annual 'Identity Of Siam And Crafts Bangkok' has been a great success resulting in over 120 million baht raised. This year, it features over 550 booths for visitors to shop for New Year gifts. This can help revive the economy and support hand-made products by local communities. It's forecast that over 150 million baht will be spent during the event," stated Pornpon Akathaporn, acting CEO of the Sustainable Arts and Crafts Institute of Thailand.

This year's event is designed under the concept of "The Endlessly Developed Valuable Beauty" to promote Thai arts and crafts to compete in the international market so that Thailand will become the centre of arts and crafts in Asean.

It is divided into seven zones. For example, the Thai Art Craft zone showcases art and craft products from the Support Foundation Under the Royal Patronage of HM Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother of Thailand, Mae Fah Luang Foundation, and Patrapat Shop.

Meanwhile, the Local Knowledge Continuation zone demonstrates the process of Thai handicraft, which is unique, from handicraft masters, while the Charming Art Pattern zone presents oil painting work from Ajarn Samarn Klangchaturas as well as watercolour and oil paintings from other famous artists both in Thailand and around the world.
