TGI Friday's Belfast statement as they announce closure

Another restaurant in Belfast city centre has announced it will not reopen its doors after the restrictions are lifted.

TGI Friday's based in Victoria Square announced the news on social media this afternoon, much to the disappointment of fans.

The American Restaurant chain famed for their cocktails, burgers, ribs and more has been a staple in the centre for the last 12 years.

Announcing the news, a spokesperson for the chain posted on Facebook: "Unfortunately TGI Fridays will not be reopening in Victoria Square, Belfast. TGI Fridays Belfast wished to thank it's customers for their loyal support over the past 12 years."

Earlier this month, Holohan's at The Barge on Lanyon Place announced they too were to cease operations after "a very tough year", with the business saying "a very uncertain future" has made it impossible to continue trading at this location.

Belfast's high street has taken a huge hit over the last year during the pandemic with a number of big name retailers now closed for good.

Familiar brands including Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Easons are just some of the big name brands that now have empty units in the city centre.
