TGB Gatehouse holds open day to celebrate move to old Bank of Scotland building

A Gatehouse community group celebrated its move to new premises at a packed open day on Saturday.

More than 200 people popped in to No.1 High Street to check out TGB Gatehouse’s new home in the former Bank of Scotland building.

And the new space – which features a small shop for local crafts, a meeting area and offices – got a big thumbs up from locals.

Project co-ordinator Sara-Leigh Cain said: “It was a brilliant day and really busy. We had more than 200 people in.

“We also held a social in the evening for all those who kindly supported us financially.

“There were so many positive comments and good craft sales in the shop as well.

“We also supplied cakes and teas to the firemen who were doing a fundraiser across at the clock tower.”

The grassroots organisation had previously operated from units at Fleetside in the town.

But organisers grabbed the chance to relocate to the town centre after the property owners agreed to lease the premises.

TGB supports around 20 groups for young and old with many providing inter-generational activities.

Mrs Cain added: “All our groups are starting back up this week.

“We are looking to start up some new groups in the coming months as well.

“We have more space and funding from the National Lottery.”
