London Reconnections is a class-act blog covering the capital's transport issues. It has picked up on a report in Brand Republic that TfL plans to commission an ad agency to promote the virtues of planned upgrades on the Underground that might be threatened by the "black hole" funding crunch. It concludes:
If the various upgrades are to make it through the coming troubles unscathed, then it is vital that the public at large be made aware that they aren't simply cosmetic changes. Similarly it is vital that any attempt to paint the works as "excessive and unnecessary" spending left over from Ken Livingstone's time in the Mayoral office are effectively countered. This seems to be an increasingly favoured tactic used by those who oppose some of the new projects on TfL's books, projects that are now increasingly in danger of dropping off the map.
I wonder where Boris stands on this. And Kulveer. And Steve. And you too, dear readers.
