Victoria Station has been closed due to overcrowding as commuters face severe delays at rush hour.

The Victoria line is experiencing severe delays due to a faulty train at Brixton, Transport for London said.

Commuters have been asked to find an alternative transport route as pictures taken at Brixton and Victoria station show large crowds gathering.

A TFL statement said: "Severe delays due to a faulty train at Brixton. London Underground tickets accepted on buses."

Disability activist Dr Amy Kavanagh was caught up in the delay.

"Victoria line down so King’s Cross was very overcrowded", she tweeted.

"Them: sorry excuse me, do you need any assistance? Like an elbow to guide you or anything?

"Me: no thanks, but thank you very much for offering.

"A perfect #JustAskDontGrab!"

At 9.20am TFL revised the tube delays to "minor".

It comes as London Overground commuters continue to face a part-suspended service "to allow Network Rail to repair damage caused by a derailed freight train"
