TfL Tube delays: District and Circle line disruption as commuters face election day travel chaos

Commuters were facing chaos on election day as cancellations and delays hit three lines on the London Tube network.

The District Line had severe delays westbound between Earl's Court and Ealing Broadway and Richmond due to a signal failure at West Kensington, and minor delays going the other way.

Travellers on the Circle Line were facing minor delays heading anti-clockwise earlier after a signal failure at Hammersmith.

There were also minor delays on the Hammersmith & City line.

Meanwhile the South Western Rail strike has been suspended for today so people can get out to vote.

A TfL spokesman said: “I apologise to customers on the Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines for the disruption to their journeys this morning.

"This was caused by signal failures at Hammersmith and at West Kensington.

"Our engineers have been working to solve the problems as quickly as possible and we have restored the Circle and Hammersmith & City to a good service.

"We will try to do so on the District line as soon as we can.”
