TfL releases new Tube map with tram lines

The latest Tube map will feature London's tram services for the first time.

From June 2016, the Transport for London (TfL) map will include London's Trams, a feature intended to make it easier for passengers travelling to Wimbledon, Croydon or Beckenham to plan their journeys.

The new map will also show where and when major upgrade works will take place on the London Overground between Gospel Oak and Barking.

The line will be shut in stages as it is electrified.

The London Tram network has grown rapidly since it opened in 2000, from 18.5 million passengers in its first year of operation to over 32 million in 2014/15.

Four additional trams were introduced in February, increasing the total number operating across the service to 34.

As part of TfL's wider accessibility work the latest stations with step-free access have also been added to the map.

Work at Vauxhall, Tottenham court Road and Tower Hill will be completed in the coming months, increasing the number of step-free London Underground stations to more than 70.

Future London Underground maps will be updated to show the new Elizabeth line when it starts running through central London from December 2018.

They will also show planned extensions to the Northern and Metropolitan lines from 2020.

TfL previously released its first official map showing how long it would take to walk between London's Tube stations.

London's Night Tube service will run on Friday nights and the early hours of Saturday and Sunday mornings from 19 August for the Central and Victoria lines.
