Text system to soon allow Malahide residents to report misuse of accessible parking bays

Residents of a north Dublin area can now report misuse of parking spaces in disabled bays in a new initiative launched by Fingal County Council.

The new text service in Malahide, launched on Tuesday, aims to raise awareness about the importance of respecting accessible car parking spaces.

Each bay will have signage containing a unique number eg BAY 1/ BAY 2 to identify the location and a contact number.

Members of the public can text this number to report misuse of the car parking space and this will be sent straight to the enforcement team.

Disabled parking bays are provided for members of the public who require them due to restrictive disabilities and should never be misused. A valid disabled parking badge must be displayed clearly at all times when parking in a disabled bay.

The text service, which was launched by the Operations Department of Fingal County Council, will be operated by Fingal Parking Services.
