Texas Wowed College Football Fans With Epic Trick Play in Big 12 Championship Game

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian isn’t messing around against Oklahoma State

With the Longhorns’ College Football Playoff hopes likely on the line in Saturday’s Big 12 championship game, Sarkisian set the tone early in the contest, dialing up a trick play in Cowboys territory. The call resulted in the Longhorns’ second touchdown of the game, and the play call left college football fans impressed.

Take a look at the Longhorns’ double flea-flicker for yourself:

There was a lot happening in this play, which made it difficult for Oklahoma State defenders to track.

College football fans gave Sarkisian props for the play design.

So impressed were fans with Sarkisian’s play call that they compared the Texas coach to offensive-minded 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan (a former Longhorns wide receiver), who dialed up a similar play for San Francisco earlier in the year.

Sarkisian came out aggressive on the play sheet–and his Longhorns have come out aggressive on the field, as they’ve jumped on the Cowboys to take an early 21–7 lead at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
