Texas woman shares home with mother's corpse for three years

A woman in Texas has been arrested after it emerged she had been sharing a home with her mother’s corpse for three years.

The decaying remains of the grandmother, 71, were found in the two-bedroom home the woman also shared with her daughter.

Police in the US state have said they believe the grandmother suffered a fall in 2016 and died “within a few days”.

Officers allege the daughter, 47, had failed to provide adequate help for her mother at the time.

The skeletal remains of the grandmother were found on a bedroom floor of the home.

The granddaughter was under the age of 15 when she was living with her grandmother's corpse in the house.

The mother has been charged with injury to a child under the age of 15.

Her mother could face up to 20 years in jail and a fine of as much as $10,000 (£8,000).
