Texas' Tom Herman on TCU's Shawn Robinson: He reminds us of a younger Kenny Hill

Texas coach Tom Herman is known for his offensive mind and is among those impressed by what he's seen from TCU sophomore quarterback Shawn Robinson so far.

"I think he reminds all of us of probably a younger Kenny Hill," Herman said on the Big 12 coaches conference call on Monday. "He can make a ton of plays with his feet but he's got a smooth delivery throwing the football. He's got a very good understanding it seems of the offense and certainly where to attack defenses.

"So very, very impressed with him considering his youth. But he comes from a great program and I remember when he was coming out of high school, so it's not surprising."

Herman comparing Robinson to Hill surprised many TCU fans on social media. After all, Hill himself has said that Robinson reminds him more of former TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin with his ability to escape the pocket and extend plays.

Either way, Herman and the Longhorns won't be taking Robinson and his abilities lightly when the Frogs visit Austin on Saturday. Texas has lost four straight games to TCU, including a 24-7 loss last season in Herman's first year.

Before taking over Texas, Herman served as Houston's head coach (2015-16). He had been an offensive coordinator/ quarterbacks coach at Texas State (2005-06), Rice (2007-08), Iowa State (2009-11) and Ohio State (2012-14) before becoming a head coach at Houston (2015-16) and then Texas (2017-present).
