Texas Tech’s Brandone Francis got a surprise reunion with his mom on senior night

Texas Tech guard Brandone Francis had not seen his mother in two years. That changed on Monday.

According to the ESPN broadcast, Texas Tech worked behind the scenes to settle visa issues to get Francis’ mother, Kenia Ramirez, to Lubbock from the Dominican Republic. When Ramirez got the green light to travel to the U.S. in time for Texas Tech’s senior night against the Texas Longhorns, Francis had no idea.

Head coach Chris Beard brought Francis out to the court at United Supermarkets Arena, and the stunned senior noticed his mother making her way down the stands.

The Texas Tech basketball Twitter account shared video of the emotional reunion shortly before the game.

So great.

Come game time, Francis put together his best scoring effort in a month. He finished with 12 points on 4 of 9 shooting, and Texas Tech won.

The Red Raiders can clinch a share of the Big 12 title with a win on Saturday.
