With 12 seconds left in a Big 12 thriller between Texas Tech and Kansas, the Jayhawks had a chance to take a late lead with a 40-yard field goal attempt with 12 seconds remaining in regulation. Texas Tech blocked the kick to seemingly ensure overtime – but Douglas Coleman III tried to engineer a wild return that would have won the game, and attempted a dangerous lateral backward that didn’t come close to reaching a teammate.
Kansas recovered the ball just before the clock expired, and got a second chance at a shorter game-winning field goal. Kicker Liam Jones converted from 32 yards to give the Jayhawks their third win of the season.
