DALLAS — Across Texas, 1,353 more COVID-19 cases were reported Saturday, including 1,119 new cases and 234 older ones recently reported by labs.
The state also reported 44 COVID-19 deaths, raising its toll to 50,138.
Of the new cases, 857 were confirmed and 262 were probable. Of the older cases, 160 were confirmed and 74 were probable.
The state said it adjusted its case totals Saturday to correct for 773 confirmed cases in several counties that were previously misclassified as probable cases. The state’s case total is now 2,931,314, including 2,507,412 confirmed and 423,902 probable.
There are 2,070 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 443 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. On Friday, 2.75% of patients in the hospital region covering the Dallas-Fort Worth area were COVID-19 patients — below the 15% threshold the state has used to define high hospitalizations.
The seven-day average positivity rate statewide for molecular tests, based on the date of test specimen collection, was 3.42% as of Friday. For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 2.99%. A molecular test is considered more accurate and is sometimes also called a PCR test; an antigen test is also called a rapid test. Gov. Greg Abbott has said a positivity rate above 10% is cause for concern.
According to the state, 12,274,208 people in Texas have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 9,795,408 — 40.7% of the state’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.
Tarrant County
Tarrant County reported 10 deaths and 141 cases Saturday.
Details about the latest victims weren’t available.
Of the new cases, 70 were confirmed and 71 were probable. The numbers bring the county’s case total to 260,090, including 217,820 confirmed and 42,270 probable. The death toll is 3,487.
According to the county, 148 people were hospitalized with the virus on Friday.
According to the state, 838,474 people in Tarrant County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 686,464 — 39.5% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.
Collin County
The state added no new deaths and 56 cases to Collin County’s totals Saturday.
Of the new cases, 39 were confirmed and 17 were probable. The numbers bring the county’s case total to 91,277, including 74,935 confirmed and 16,342 probable. The death toll is 832.
According to the county, 61 people are hospitalized with the virus.
According to the state, 519,249 people in Collin County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 428,845 — 49.6% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.
Denton County
Denton County no longer releases COVID-19 data over the weekend.
As of Friday, the county had reported 75,693 coronavirus cases — 55,601 confirmed and 20,092 probable. The death toll is 575.
According to the county, 14 people were hospitalized with the virus on Friday.
According to the state, 407,029 people in Denton County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 339,391 — 45.2% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some counties, new data may not be reported every day.

— Kaufman County: 16,197 cases (13,467 confirmed and 2,730 probable), 259 deaths.

— Johnson County: 19,891 cases (16,852 confirmed and 3,039 probable), 366 deaths.
