- Austin police have arrested two individuals in connection with at least 10 random shootings that occurred across the city over the weekend, with a third suspect may still be “at large”.
- The series of shootings, which took place late Saturday and Sunday, resulted in at least four people being shot, including one person with a “serious injury” and others with minor injuries.
- Police Chief Lisa Davis said that the shootings appear to be random with no specific motive, and described two of the suspects as males in their late teens.
- The suspects reportedly used several different stolen vehicles, including a black or dark blue Hyundai, a gold Hyundai sedan, a silver Mazda, and a white Kia Optima, prompting police to advise residents against leaving cars unlocked or with keys inside.
- Two of the incidents specifically targeted Austin Fire Department stations, causing minor damage to one fire apparatus and both stations, though no firefighters were injured.
